The Restoration will be conducted in Evanston, Illinois later this month. Space has been made available at the Evanston Township High School where a temporary workshop with equipment from the Red Onion Press will be set up. The project will be on view for students at the High School to learn more about the history and process of letterpress printing, restoration work and the mission of the Shorefront Legacy Center.
William Twiggs was a prominent member of the North Shore African American Community. A city park in Evanston is named after him and the location of his shop has been declared an African American historic site. He was a printer, barber and community leader, who passed away at the age of 95 in 1960.
